Oh wow! What an amazing day Year 4 have had today! We were very lucky to take part in a Science workshop by the Mad Science Company. We learned all about 'matter' and how matter can exist as a solid, liquid or a gas. We created a Polymer by combining PVA and Borax to make 'Slime' and then investigated Dry Ice (Solid Co2) and what happens to it when hot water is added. We saw that the Dry Ice turns from a solid, straight to a white gas which filled the room! It was like sitting on a cloud! We made our own volcano out of foil and salt dough and then we made them 'erupt' using the chemical reaction between Vinegar and Bicarbonate of soda. Adding a little washing up liquid, meant that we could 'see' the invisible gas given off as bubbles which ran down the side of our volcano like lava! Phew! Take a look at out photos to see how much fun we had!
